New System Speeds Up Villa Permits For Emiratis In Dubai

Dubai Municipality / X

Dubai Municipality has introduced a simpler and faster process for Emiratis looking to build their own villas, as part of ongoing efforts to improve housing services and reduce red tape.

The new system allows approved engineering consultancy offices to issue self-build permits directly, without needing prior review from municipal engineers. This change is designed to save both time and effort for citizens starting their homebuilding journey.

To ensure quality and safety, these accredited consultancy offices have been carefully selected based on strict engineering and regulatory standards. Each consultancy must comply with the Dubai Building Code and planning regulations before a permit is issued. Once approved, the consultant can appoint a contractor to begin construction.

The initiative aims to make the process more efficient and cost-effective, helping homeowners avoid unnecessary delays and expenses caused by overly complex designs or lengthy approval steps.

Dubai Municipality confirmed that the list of accredited consultancies will expand in future phases, giving citizens and developers more options and flexibility.
