The highly anticipated Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is set to open its doors on 22 November, marking a defining cultural moment for the emirate. Located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, the 35,000-square-metre landmark will be the largest museum of its kind in the region, inviting visitors to explore the vast story of life on Earth.

From the Big Bang to the age of dinosaurs and beyond, the museum traces 13.8 billion years of natural history through immersive exhibits and breathtaking displays. Among the main attractions is Stan, a nearly complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, alongside a 25-metre blue whale specimen and the Murchison Meteorite, which contains 7-billion-year-old grains predating our Solar System.

The museum also shines a spotlight on discoveries from the Arabian Peninsula, including the extinct Stegotetrabelodon emiratus, an ancient elephant species unique to the region. Designed by acclaimed architecture studio Mecanoo, the building’s form draws inspiration from natural rock formations, symbolising the connection between humanity and the Earth.
