A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage has caused widespread internet disruptions, affecting many of the world’s most-used platforms and services.
Users across the globe reported issues accessing Snapchat, Asana, Canva, Fortnite, Roblox, PlayStation, among others, on Monday morning. The outage has also affected several Amazon-owned services and third-party applications that rely on AWS to power their systems.
The disruption appears to have originated from Amazon’s data centres in North Virginia, US, one of the most critical hubs for the company’s cloud infrastructure and a backbone of modern internet.
Amazon acknowledged the issue on its AWS service status page, confirming that engineers are investigating 'increased error rates' and delays across multiple systems. While the company is working to resolve the problem, no official timeline for full restoration has yet been provided.
