Dubai Loop Project To Be Operational By Next Year, Says UAE Minister

The Boring Company

Dubai is preparing to launch a futuristic transport system that could reshape how people move across the city. Elon Musk’s The Boring Company will debut its first loop project outside the USA in Dubai, called 'Dubai Loop'. Dubai Loop's operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications in the UAE, said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Developed in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Loop will stretch 17km in its first phase, linking 11 underground stations. Designed to carry up to 20,000 passengers an hour, the system aims to cut travel times and ease congestion across key city zones. More details about the locations are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Described by Musk as 'wormhole-like travel', Dubai Loop uses high-speed tunnels unaffected by traffic or weather conditions like sandstorms or earthquakes. Engineering studies are already underway to ensure safety and sustainability, covering ventilation, emergency systems and flood protection.

Once complete, Dubai Loop will not only enhance connectivity but also support Dubai’s environmental goals by reducing emissions from traditional transport and also accommodate the mobility needs of its growing population which recently crossed 4 million.
