The UAE Ministry of Interior has announced a major emergency response exercise, simulating a tsunami scenario in Fujairah as part of the international 'IOWAVE25 – Indian Ocean Tsunami Simulation Exercise'.

The drill will take place on Wednesday, 15 October at Qidfa Beach, beginning at 10am, and will involve the mobilisation of emergency response teams, vehicles and coordinated evacuations. The simulation is designed to test and enhance the country’s preparedness for potential tsunami events, and will also see the participation of National Centre of Metereology, UNESCO and several other public and private partners.

Officials confirmed that the exercise aims to strengthen coordination between local and international agencies, ensuring that response mechanisms are efficient, swift, and well-integrated. It also serves to raise public awareness about safety measures in the event of a natural disaster.

The Ministry emphasised that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to build a safer and more resilient community, reassuring residents that the activities are purely precautionary.
