Dubai Municipality has introduced the ‘City Inspector’ initiative, a comprehensive programme designed to standardise and elevate municipal inspection services across the city. The initiative marks a major step in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and service quality in areas that directly impact daily life.

In its first phase, 63 Emirati inspectors have been certified across fourteen technical fields, including health and food safety, construction, waste management, and public facility supervision.

The initiative aims to unify inspection frameworks and streamline processes, reducing duplication and improving response times for community needs, thereby reinforcing Dubai's world-class standards in health, safety and quality of life.

The new programme also introduces a professional diploma for inspectors, establishing clear standards and a structured path for continuous professional development. Certified inspectors will carry out regular, complaint-based and visual inspections, ensuring consistency and accountability across municipal services.

Key reforms to the inspection mechanism include granting inspectors judicial authority status, implementing risk-based checklists, and leveraging smart technologies to enhance accuracy and data-driven decision-making.
