His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Praises Nobel Laureate Once Honoured In UAE

Professor Omar Yaghi, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry this year, was congratulated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on social media, describing the achievement as a moment of pride for the Arab world.

Professor Yaghi, a Jordanian-born scientist based at the University of California, USA, shared this year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry with two other researchers from Australia and Japan. Professor Yaghi was previously recognised by the UAE through the Great Arab Minds Award in the Natural Sciences category, an initiative launched to spotlight exceptional Arab talent in science, innovation and creativity.

In a message shared on social media, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said that Professor Yaghi’s Nobel recognition not only highlights his pioneering scientific work but also reflects the growing global presence of Arab researchers contributing to humanity’s advancement. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that the Arab region is rich in intellect and innovation, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to empowering scientists and nurturing future generations of thinkers and innovators.
