Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has officially opened a new 300-metre single-lane bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road directly to Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha. Designed to handle up to 900 vehicles per hour, the bridge aims to ease congestion and streamline traffic for motorists arriving from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali.

RTA's officials noted that the new bridge cuts down travel time from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali to Mall of the Emirates from ten minutes to just one minute, by reducing traffic congestion around the area.

The project extends beyond the bridge itself, featuring major upgrades to surrounding roads, intersections, and access points around the mall. The southbound ramp at Umm Suqeim junction has been widened to improve access to the new bridge. The project also involved the upgrading of 2.5kms of roads around Mall of the Emirates.

Six signalised intersections were developed, alongside modifications to the bus station at Mall of the Emirates Metro Station. The road beside the Kempinski Hotel which is connected directly to Mall of the Emirates was also converted from one-way to two-way traffic, complemented by enhanced pedestrian and cycling tracks. These upgrades are expected to improve traffic efficiency and road safety on the roads surrounding the mall.

Collectively, these upgrades by RTA is expected to enhance the overall commuting experience to one of the key shopping destinations in the city.
