Dubai’s early childhood education sector is expanding rapidly, with new figures showing an 8% rise in enrolment between June 2024 and June 2025. More than 29,600 children are now enrolled across 312 private early childhood centres (ECCs), reflecting strong demand from families.

Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) reported that 38 new centres opened in the past year alone, including Al Freej Nurseries, launched in partnership with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department to offer a focus on Emirati values and heritage.

The early childhood education sector has also become more adaptable over the years, with some centres expanding to welcome younger children. ECCs in Dubai now care for children from birth to six years old.

Dr. Amna Almaazmi, CEO of Growth and Human Development at KHDA, noted that this growth in enrolment eases capacity pressures, giving families greater access and choice. Dr. Amna Almaazmi also added that parents’ trust in nurseries highlights a growing recognition of the importance of early years in shaping children’s future learning and wellbeing.

Diversity remains a hallmark of Dubai’s ECCs, with children from 163 nationalities enrolled and parents able to select from 17 curricula, including the widely adopted UK Early Years Foundation Stage.

The sector employs over 2,500 teachers and 2,600 assistants, ensuring a strong foundation for its youngest learners.

Parents can explore ECC options through the KHDA’s online directory, which allows searches by location, fees, and curriculum.
