The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has signed a landmark content licensing agreement with Amazon Alexa to make Arabic-language resources available through Alexa voice services in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration, announced as a key outcome of the Congress of Arabic and Creative Industries, will allow Alexa users to access Arabic content from two of ALC’s flagship digital initiatives, the Digital Lexicon and the Poetry Encyclopaedia.
The Digital Lexicon, launched in 2021, is a comprehensive and regularly updated reference of the most common Arabic vocabulary used in digital spaces, serving both Arabic and non-Arabic speakers. Meanwhile, the Poetry Encyclopaedia offers an open-source archive of classical and modern Arabic poetry, showcasing the richness of the language and its literary tradition.
By integrating these resources, Alexa will make Arabic content more accessible for native speakers, learners, and global audiences alike. The partnership also aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision of strengthening Arabic’s presence in the digital age and supporting its role as a living, dynamic language.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, called the partnership a significant step in reinforcing Arabic as a global language of culture, science, and innovation, stressing that the collaboration will bring the treasures of Arabic closer to millions of users.
