Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a digital inspection system for Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram stations, streamlining operations and improving passenger compliance. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Keolis MHI, aligns with RTA’s efforts to enhance public transport efficiency through advanced technology.
The system automates fare inspection procedures, monitors violations such as unauthorised use of Gold Class cabins Silver Nol card holders and misuse of designated women’s spaces. It also optimises the deployment of fare inspectors by directing them to high-priority areas that require increased monitoring to curb rule violations. By analysing real-time data, RTA can prioritise high-traffic stations and improve response times during major events.
The system also scans passenger data to recognise frequent violators in order to educate them on the importance of adhering to laws.
It also promotes sustainability by reducing resource consumption and promoting environment friendly practices within the transport ecosystem. A dedicated monitoring centre ensures real-time oversight, enhancing safety and service quality across Dubai’s Metro and Tram network.
