Middle East’s First Professional Ballpark To Open In Dubai

Baseball United

Dubai is set to get the Middle East’s first-ever professional baseball field and ballpark. Baseball United, the inaugural professional baseball league dedicated to the Middle East and South Asia, has unveiled plans for this groundbreaking venue. The new ballpark, to be located within The Sevens sports and entertainment complex on Al-Ain Road (E66), will be the first of its kind in the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Besides GCC, it will be the only professional baseball ground across Morocco in North Africa to India, Bangladesh, and several countries within Southwest Asia.

Tentatively named Baseball United Ballpark, with naming rights still being negotiated, the new facility will feature a dual fibre, synthetic turf designed to handle Dubai’s high temperatures. This turf includes organic infill and geotextile fabric for enhanced performance. The LED lighting system will produce over 15 million lumens from eight towers with 94 fixtures, incorporating the latest BallTracker technology. The stadium’s flexible, modular seating will accommodate up to 6,500 spectators.

Baseball Park's Design Is Inspired By Yankee Stadium

Baseball United will build above-ground dugouts, foul lines, and poles with a professional-grade netting system. The ballpark will also feature a modern LED content wall and a traditional scoreboard inspired by 19th-century US baseball games. Seating options include four distinct sections, the ultra-premium diamond club, infield boxes with optimal views, budget-friendly outfield boxes, and the exclusive VVIP on-field cabanas.

The ballpark's design is inspired by Yankee Stadium, featuring fences at 318 feet to left field, 314 feet to right field, and 408 feet to centre field.

Baseball United is collaborating with top industry experts to build this landmark stadium. The UK’s SIS Pitches will handle the turf and netting, Musco Lighting from Iowa will provide the lighting system, and Dubai’s Al Laith will manage the seating.

The playing field will be named after Barry Larkin, a Major League Baseball legend and co-founder of Baseball United.

It Is Scheduled To Open By The End Of This Year

Construction of the new ballpark begins this week and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. Baseball United’s major events for next year, including the Baseball United Cup and Season One, will be held at this new venue.

The new Baseball United Ballpark will be located next to the cricket fields at The Sevens, making it the only facility in the region with both baseball and cricket fields.

The Sevens, just 30 minutes from Dubai International Airport, is a well-known sports complex with eight grass pitches, three cricket ovals, and various netball, tennis, and basketball courts. It is also the venue for the Emirates Dubai 7s, one of the region’s biggest annual events, attracting over 80,000 attendees over three days.
