Dubai Metro is marking its 15th anniversary, having launched its driverless mass transit system on 9 September 2009. To celebrate this milestone, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is hosting a series of events under the theme '15 Years on Track'. The celebrations will include various promotional and entertainment activities, surprises, and initiatives designed to delight residents and visitors from around the world.
This year’s Dubai Metro 15th anniversary celebrations are supported by sponsors and partners such as Keolis-MHI, the operator of Dubai Metro and Tram, LEGO Middle East, LEGOLAND Dubai, IGLOO, Al Jaber Gallery, and Emirates Post.
Since its launch on 9 September, 2009, the Dubai Metro has become a key part of city transportation. For this milestone, Emirates Post will issue limited edition stamps, and the RTA will release a special edition nol Card featuring a design by LEGO Middle East. Al Jaber Gallery will also offer a range of Metro-themed souvenirs across its 26 Dubai outlets.
LEGOLAND Dubai To Host A Special Party on 21 September
On 21 September 2024, LEGOLAND Dubai will host a special party for 'Metro Babies', children born between 9 September 2009 to 9 September 2024. Parents can register their children for this event through RTA’s website.
But that's not all, RTA has even more surprises! During the celebrations, IGLOO Ice Cream will offer limited edition ice creams shaped like the Dubai Metro. Inside, 5,000 of these ice creams will have special codes on the sticks. If you find one of these codes, you'll win a nol Terhaal discount card.
Musical Performances To Take Place At Dubai Metro Stations
From 21 to 27 September, visitors at Dubai Metro stations will enjoy a range of musical performances as part of the 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival. The festival, organised by Brand Dubai will feature live music from Emirati and international artists. This annual event attracts a diverse audience, including both residents and visitors, and aims to bring joy to everyone travelling through Dubai Metro.
