Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced yet another update for Dubai residents. RTA has successfully completed the maintenance of 2,173 lighting units on four cycling and e-scooter tracks in Dubai. These tracks include Al Qudra, Jumeirah, Nad Al Sheba, and Mirdif and Mushrif.
Abdullah Lootah, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, said, "RTA is keen to provide all facilities and infrastructure needed to guarantee that the public would happily enjoy practising their hobbies and sports on the cycling and e-scooter tracks."
Maintaining lighting units is a crucial aspect of RTA’s strategy to protect its assets, uphold their quality and safety, extend their operational lifespan, and improve sustainability. These efforts ensure clear visibility and safe, smooth movement for users of the tracks.
RTA’s lighting unit maintenance for cycling and e-scooter tracks follows an annual schedule divided into two parts, preventive maintenance, which includes checking the operational status of lighting poles, cleaning, lubricating, and verifying electrical connections; and corrective maintenance, which addresses issues only when a malfunction occurs in the lighting network.
Abdullah Lootah also commended the contributions of community members and RTA’s partners, highlighting that maintenance efforts extend beyond reports from field inspectors. The authorities also use feedback from RTA’s call centre, the Madinati service within the RTA app, and reports submitted by partners from various government entities for these maintenance works.
