RTA Conducts Inspection Campaign Targeting Overloaded Trucks

RTA

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched several inspection campaigns aimed at addressing overloaded heavy vehicles and trucks in Dubai. Conducted in collaboration with the General Headquarters of Dubai Police, these campaigns are part of the Traffic Safety Strategy. They have targeted key roads with high traffic of heavy vehicles such as Al Maktoum International Airport Road, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Emirates Road, Ras Al Khor Road, Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and Al Khail Road.

According to Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Licencing Activities Monitoring at RTA's Public Transport Agency, the primary goal of these campaigns is to enhance transportation safety. They aim to raise awareness among drivers about the risks associated with overloaded and protruding cargo, including truck rollovers and hazards posed to other road users.

Drivers have been cautioned against transporting hazardous materials without proper licencing, which can endanger safety and compromise road infrastructure durability. These initiatives are integral to RTA's strategic plans throughout the year, emphasising traffic awareness and road safety enhancements.

Educational messages are delivered to drivers to ensure compliance with technical standards and safety regulations, especially crucial during the summer season. Overall, these efforts underscore RTA's commitment to advancing transportation safety and creating secure road environments, contributing to Dubai's goal of achieving superior traffic safety standards and ensuring safe travels for everyone on the roads.
