Abu Dhabi has taken a significant step towards becoming a hub for smart mobility by hosting the Middle East's first trials for passenger-carrying drones. These drones, capable of travelling over 25km, were tested in collaboration with Multi-Level Group (MLG), a company specialising in automation and digital solutions. The trials, conducted in association with Abu Dhabi Mobility, showcased MLG's advanced technology through two test flights.
During the trials, a five-seater drone capable of travelling over 25km and carrying up to 350kg was showcased on the first flight. The second flight featured a smaller drone capable of carrying two passengers and travelling up to 35km, with a flight duration of around 20 minutes.
Mohamed Hamad Al Dhaheri, a Board Member of MLG, made history by boarding the demo flight of the fully autonomous intra-city eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the Middle East.
Mohamed Hamad Al Dhaheri said, "Being part of this historic moment is truly exhilarating. The seamless integration of technology and aviation represents a significant leap forward for our nation, and as an Emirati, I am proud to be a part of it."
This achievement marks a big step forward for Abu Dhabi in the transportation sector. It highlights the city's efforts to become a global leader in smart transportation and autonomous vehicles.
