The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has introduced the 'Positive Parenting' programme, aligning with Dubai's Social Agenda 33, emphasising the importance of family. This initiative reflects the commitment to family values and receives Dhs 208 billion of government backing, as announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, towards its progressive blueprint over the 10 years.
The programme is a strategic response rooted in the understanding that a strong family structure is essential for fostering a thriving and inclusive community. It aims to promote open communication, constructive dialogue, and favourable engagements within families, particularly emphasising parent-child relationships. By doing so, it aims to highlight the key position of families in nurturing the advancement and well-being of Dubai's society.
The 'Positive Parenting' programme encourages moving away from old-style parenting to positive methods that help kids grow well and make families happier. It focusses on teaching caregivers and educators how to better support a childs' growth, aiming to raise future leaders who are healthy and happy.

Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of DFWAC, highlighting the scientific underpinnings of the programme, said: "The programme is part of the efforts to support parents and workers in the family sector in applying modern educational concepts and foundations. It is based on scientific research results in the fields of psychology and neuropsychology and covers several themes, such as positive communication skills, interaction with oneself and children, strategies for dealing with behavioural challenges, equipping parents with skills for positive adaptation to stress, and dealing with the various challenges that families face, especially those related to social media and peer pressure."
The Programme Offers 12 Sessions
The programme consists of 12 sessions led by experts to train parents, caregivers, and professionals in mental health, social work, and education. The goal is to give upcoming generations the skills they need to succeed. DFWAC will provide a training manual to guide positive families and offer support.
The programme also aims to train professionals in psychology, social work, and education to use positive teaching skills when working with children. It also plans to offer thorough training to these professionals to help them handle any behavioural issues families might face.
