Dubai based Emirates Airline is well-known for its excellent service and cool in-flight entertainment called ice. This entertainment system has a massive 6,500 channels with movies, TV shows, music, and games in multiple languages. Now, as we finish up the busy year of 2023, Emirates looked at the data to see what passengers enjoyed during their flights. And the airline has revealed the most-watched shows, music, movies, and more on trips to and from 140 different places all around the world.

Most Watched Movies On Ice In 2023

Emirates passengers enjoyed a diverse selection of movies in 2023, with top picks including the sci-fi film 'Avatar: The Way of Water', the rom-com 'Ticket to Paradise' and the action-packed 'Top Gun: Maverick'.

Long-haul travellers indulged in movie marathons, with favourites like 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy and all four John Wick films.

Among the top international films, are Bollywood action movies like 'Vikram Vedha' and 'Bholaa', the French thriller 'La Syndicaliste', the Korean drama 'Return to Seoul', and the Cannes Palme d’Or winner 'Anatomie d’une chute' from France captured the audience's attention. Arabic speakers enjoyed the Emirati film 'Khorfakkan'. 

Meanwhile, for the younger audience, popular 2023 choices included 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish', 'Tom and Jerry Cowboy Up!', 'Teen Titans Go! And DC Superhero Girls', and 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'.

Most Binged Box Sets And TV On Ice In 2023

Emirates passengers on long flights enjoyed binge-watching popular series, with high viewership for HBO Max's 'Succession' and both seasons of 'The White Lotus'. 

In comedy, favourites were timeless sitcoms like 'Friends', 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine', and 'The Big Bang Theory'. For drama enthusiasts, historical dramas 'The English' and 'Women of the Movement', along with the suspenseful 'Your Honor' starring Bryan Cranston, were top picks.

Kids and teens tuned in to 'Schooled!' set in the 90s, the classic 'SpongeBob SquarePants', and for younger kids, Australia's 'Bluey', 'Hey Duggee', and the UK's 'Supertato'.

On Emirates live TV channels, passengers enjoyed a variety of sports and social events, including the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Formula 1® races, NFL Superbowl, English Premier League, Augusta Masters, ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Rugby World Cup 2023, Wimbledon, DP World Tour, and the US Open Tennis. 

The most-watched sports event in 2023 was the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Most Popular Music Choices In 2023 

Emirates passengers had a vast music library with over 3,000 albums and more than 40,000 tracks to choose from. Taylor Swift's album 'Midnights' was a top favourite, along with Ed Sheeran's 'Subtract' and Mozart's Chamber Music. For kids, Cocomelon, Bluey, Kidzbop, and the Encanto soundtrack were big hits.

Popular playlists included Arijit Singh, ABBA's Timeless Pop Anthems, and Best of Fairuz and Khaleeji Classics. In Global Music, India, Korea, and Africa were the top regions, with BTS Jimin (Korea), Burna Boy (Nigeria), and SB19 (Philippines) leading in artist popularity.
