A new model will launch for students from public and private schools under The Ministry of Education curriculum, where students in 11th and 12th grade, will be able to choose their own subjects based on their interests and abilities.
The change will be implemented during the 2023 to 2024 academic year for students in 11th grade and during the 2024 to 2025 academic year for grade 12 students.
Six subjects will be compulsory, including Arabic, Islamic studies, social studies or moral education, English, mathematics, and physical and health education.
There will be two groups of subjects that students can choose from, the first for science with three subject choices, physics, chemistry and biology.
The second group of subjects includes opting from computing, creative design and innovation, health sciences and arts.
His Excellency Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education said, "This new model is more flexible and considers each student's unique capabilities, allowing them to develop their knowledge and skills. By doing so, students will be better equipped with the necessary knowledge to pursue their desired academic specialisations in higher education."
