All kids love animals and with the temperature just perfect for some outdoor outings, we give you some ideas on how to keep your little animal lovers entertained.
Up close and personal
Poshpaws Animal Sanctuary and Petting Farm at Dubai’s Al Hamra Stables is where the little ones can feed and pet the animals, have a pony ride or simply relax with a snack at the coffee shop overlooking the farm. Nearly all the animals at the petting farm are donated or rescued animals, some needing homes. Open daily, visit www.poshpawsdubai.com or call 056-6044091.
Pretty in pink
Pack up breakfast and a pair of binoculars and head to the Ras Al Khor Nature Reserve where the pink flamingos steal the show over the winter. The sanctuary is home to a vast number of indigenous bird species and there is an information centre with details of all the different birds and pathways that lead to hides deep in the mangroves. Go at high tide to see the flamingos up close.
Breakfast with the champions
Take a Meydan Stables Tour and meet the thoroughbred stars of racing. This unique behind the scenes experience offers a side of horseracing you never usually see. As well as breakfast, you’ll get a close-up encounter with the horses every Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 7.30am until 11.30am. Prices are Dhs 275 for adults and Dhs 150 for kids between four and 12 years (under fours are not allowed). Call 04-3813405 or visit www.stabletours.meydan.ae.
