REVIEW: City Social - Upscale Dining With A View

Dubai is known for its stunning skyscrapers and fascinating city life, and one of the best ways to take it all in is with food and drinks.

City Social, located at Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai Marina, is the perfect place for a brilliant dinner with a stunning view.

The restaurant has been opened by Chef Jason Atherton, the highly celebrated celebrity chef and owner of two Michelin starred restaurants in London.

On entering the newly opened restaurant, the stunning ambient setting welcomes you.

To start the night the right way, we headed out to the outdoor terrace to enjoy drinks, with indoor seating also available at the bar.

Set on the 43rd floor, the views from the terrace highlight the magnificent views of the Dubai skyline and Marina in a beautiful way.

After marvelling at the view, we headed inside for a meal that took our taste buds on a journey with mouth-watering modern-European cuisine.

We started the meal with appetisers and were served the delicious wild mushroom ragout with a fried egg and a toasted piece of brioche, which was a perfect blend of flavours and different textures, and was followed by the crispy Patagonian squid, fried to perfection and when dipped into the ink aioli, was definitely a flavour bomb.

Starters on the menu also included caviar, oysters, aged beef tartare, melon and tomato gazpacho, roasted Norwegian scallops and more.

For mains, the rigatoni pasta, served with burrata, made it the perfect savoury dish and had the right amount of sauce to leave you wanting to come back more often to enjoy the dish.

Next up was the braised smoked short rib, which was cooked to perfection and was so tender it slid right off the bone. The dish was served with mashed potatoes and a spiced glaze to add great flavour to the dish.

Other main dishes on the menu that we will definitely be checking out the next time around include roasted French cod, lamb rack and grilled Maine lobster.

No meal is ever complete without dessert and the menu features sweet treats including citrus curd and white chocolate panna cotta, with choices for every palette.

The miso sesame chocolate parfait, served with white soy ice cream, is the perfect way to end the meal and is just the right amount of sweetness, with the chocolate mousse pulling the whole dessert together.

The restaurant is open from Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 2am, on Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 3am and is closed on Sunday.

The average cost per person for a starter, main and dessert is priced at around Dhs 650.
