Children today consume a lot of pre-packed foods. Their morning breakfast generally starts with cereals which are loaded with saturated fat and unwanted sugar, they usually snack on packed biscuits, protein bars or a glass of bottled juice, without realising how unhealthy these are. Not only do these food products lack nutritional benefits but also contribute to unhealthy weight gain.
With more time at home and spending more time with children, this is a good time to involve your kids in preparing healthy snacks, explaining to them the benefits of each ingredient. Involve them in preparing healthy cookies. Pick one super food each day and talk to your children about how it will benefit them and then involve them in preparing a dish with this super food. Quinoa is one such super food which is not only rich in proteins, but also high in fibre, naturally gluten free, and perfect for a vegan lifestyle.
Involve them in baking Fennel Quinoa Cookies at home. Here's a quick recipe by India Gate Quinoa.
