Whether you're facing a gloomy day or simply craving some sweetness, a generous spoonful of Nutella can brighten things up and help you tackle whatever life throws at you. Nutella is like a jar of pure happiness that brings joy to everyone's life. Its popularity has soared over the years, turning into a snacking sensation with its very own designated day on 5 February each year. And to celebrate the goodness of Nutella, here are five lip-smacking facts that'll definitely blow your mind.

First Version Of Nutella Was Made Right After World War II

YES! If you thought Nutella was a recent addition to the market, think again, it's been around longer than most of us. Interestingly, the Nutella we enjoy today is not the original version created. Post-World War II, when cocoa was scarce, Pietro Ferrero, the Italian founder of Ferrero confectionery, devised a paste using hazelnuts, sugar, and a small amount of cocoa. This paste was initially turned into a loaf known as Giandujot in 1946, meant to be sliced and spread onto bread. Subsequently, it transformed into a jarred spread named SuperCrema in 1951. And after some recipe changes and a name transition, Nutella was officially introduced in 1964.

You CANNOT Name Your Child Nutella

This one is a bit absurd, but yes, you cannot name your child Nutella if they are born in France. This peculiar rule came into effect in 2015 after a French court declared it illegal for parents to give their newborns this name. The decision was prompted by a case where a baby girl was named Nutella, and the court aimed to prevent potential bullying and harm to children with unconventional names. In the specific case of the baby girl named Nutella, the court ruled that she should be named Ella instead.

Nearly A Quarter Of World's Hazelnut Supply Is Used By Nutella

Processing approximately 100,000 tons of hazelnuts each year, Ferrero consumes nearly a quarter of the world's hazelnut supply. This substantial demand has contributed to a 60% increase in hazelnut prices globally.

Nutella Is Sold Every 2.5 Seconds Globally

As per the data, the Ferrero Group manages to sell a jar of Nutella every 2.5 seconds across stores and markets worldwide. If you were to collect all these jars and arrange them in a line, you could encircle the Earth approximately 1.4 times.

Main Ingredient Of Nutella Is NOT Chocolate

NO, the main ingredient of Nutella is not chocolate or hazelnut; it's sugar! A significant portion, 56% to be exact, of a Nutella jar consists of sugar. Following sugar in the ingredient list are palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, whey, soy lecithin, and vanillin.
