Zordyl mouthwash, a product manufactured by Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) has been pulled from shelves for containing harmful impurities.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention circulated the order to withdraw the product after it reviewed reports received from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), which stated that the product contained impurities that are both harmful and contaminated with bacteria, and fail to comply with the set standards.
Only a week ago, low-dose aspirin tablet Jusprin 81 mg, which is manufactured by the same company was withdrawn from the market for not complying with regulatory standards.
Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant under-Secretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing Sector, said, “The Ministry will not overlook any abuses that may threaten human health and safety in the UAE. The Ministry will not hesitate to do its part to withdraw any harmful pharmaceutical and medical products, regardless of the manufacturer.”
Individuals suffering from any drug-related side effects caused by using this product can get in touch with the Ministry by e-mail: pv@moh.gov.ae, or through the electronic reporting system available at the Ministry’s website, or by using the smart application UAE RADR.
