Dubai Airports has officially revealed a major visual redesign of its Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at Dubai International Airport (DXB), integrating the colours of the UAE flag into the structure.
The prominent 89-metre landmark, located at the heart of the world’s busiest international airport, now serves as a highly visible statement of national identity for millions of passengers arriving in and departing from the emirate.
The official unveiling took place during an airside ceremony, which featured a parade by the Dubai Police against the backdrop of the newly designed tower. The event was attended by senior leadership from Dubai Airports, operational staff, and key representatives from the oneDXB partner network.

According to airport officials, the design update celebrates the critical role of aviation within the national economy.
Majed Al Joker, COO of Dubai Airports, said: “The ATC tower is one of the most important and symbolic structures at DXB. It’s where thousands of critical decisions are made every day, helping to keep aircraft, guests and operations moving safely and efficiently through Dubai. Aviation is a fundamental pillar of the UAE’s economy, and we are committed to the continuous development of this great nation. By bringing the colours of the UAE flag to this iconic landmark, we are celebrating the ambition of the nation we serve, while recognising the extraordinary teams and partners who ensure DXB is always Flying the Flag, Connecting the World.”
The structure itself has been an operational staple of DXB since its expansion in 2000. Architecturally unique, the tower features a buttressed centre column and distinct arched wings designed to resemble a futuristic avian sculpture. A multi-level control room occupies the top of the tower, where personnel from Dubai Air Navigation Services manage the daily rhythm of arrivals and departures.
From its beginnings as a single runway established in 1960, DXB has scaled up to become the central global transit hub. Airport authorities emphasised that the updated flag identity acknowledges the collaborative effort required by ground handlers, safety crews, airlines, and service partners to maintain safe operations around the clock.
