Visa Grace Period Granted To Travellers Affected By Regional Airspace Disruptions

The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a temporary exemption from overstay fines for individuals whose travel plans were disrupted by regional airspace closures and flight suspensions.

According to the authority, the measure applies to visitors holding tourist visas, visit visas and exit permits, as well as residents who had cancelled their residency permits before departing the country but were subsequently unable to travel due to circumstances beyond their control. The grace period was in place from 10 June 2026 and will be in effect until 9 July 2026, in that time those affected can either regularise their status or leave the UAE .

The authority described the measures as part of the UAE's response to exceptional circumstances affecting travellers and visitors. It urged affected individuals to follow official channels for updates and any future regulatory announcements related to travel and residency procedures.

The UAE has previously introduced temporary immigration and residency accommodations during periods of major disruption, reflecting a policy approach aimed at maintaining legal compliance while supporting residents and visitors facing unforeseen travel challenges.
