Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed maintenance and upgrade works on approximately 40 air-conditioned rest areas designed for delivery riders across the emirate.
The facilities have been prepared ahead of the summer season to support rider wellbeing, improve road safety and reduce the risk of heat-related stress during working hours.
The upgraded rest areas are located in key districts including Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Oud Maitha, Al Karama and Arjan. Locations were selected using delivery demand data and in consultation with delivery companies.
According to the RTA, the initiative reflects Dubai's commitment to supporting the growing delivery sector while promoting safer working conditions.
The facilities feature air conditioning, drinking water dispensers, mobile phone charging stations and dedicated motorcycle parking. Most locations can accommodate up to 10 riders at a time and have been designed to reduce exposure to direct sunlight.
The project forms part of broader efforts to enhance rider welfare and improve service standards across Dubai's delivery industry.
