Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has allocated 23 temporary rest areas for delivery motorcycle riders at bus and metro stations across the emirate, marking a 53% increase from the 15 locations provided in 2025.

The expanded network has been introduced as part of the UAE’s Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight and in open-air areas between 12.30pm and 3pm from 15 June to 15 September. The initiative is implemented in line with directives issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

According to the RTA, eight new locations have been added this year in coordination with government entities and sector partners, reflecting continued growth in Dubai’s delivery sector. The authority said the additional facilities are intended to improve rider welfare, enhance road safety, reduce accident risks and provide a more comfortable environment while riders wait for delivery requests.

The move builds on previous efforts by the RTA to support delivery riders through air-conditioned facilities and dedicated rest areas across Dubai. Earlier this month, the authority confirmed the operational readiness of around 40 permanent air-conditioned rider rest facilities located in key districts across the emirate.
