According to National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) weather bulletin, a combination of intense summer heat, overnight fog, and afternoon rainfall across the United Arab Emirates from Tuesday, 23 June, to Thursday, 25 June is expected.
While the country is settling into the peak summer season, unstable atmospheric conditions are introducing convective cloud formations that bring a chance of unseasonal showers to the eastern and southern regions of the country.
Internal and desert regions will experience the highest temperatures, with Al Ain and Liwa expected to peak at 46°C. Meanwhile, coastal urban hubs will maintain lower but highly humid daytime temperatures. Strong southeasterly to northeasterly winds reaching up to 40kph are anticipated by mid-week, threatening to stir up dust and reduce visibility on major motorways.
Residents in Dubai and Abu Dhabi can expect largely sunny but intensely hot conditions during the day. In Abu Dhabi, temperatures will reach a high of 43°C on Tuesday and rise to 44°C on Wednesday, with overnight lows hovering around 31°C to 32°C. Humidity levels will peak at 90% during the night and early mornings, creating a high probability of mist and fog formation.
Dubai will see maximum daytime temperatures peaking between 40°C and 43°C during this three-day period, with overnight minimums staying around 32°C to 33°C. Similar to the capital, late-night and early-morning humidity will spike up to 85%, presenting potential visibility drops for morning commuters.
The weather varies distinctly across the rest of the country, driven by proximity to the coast and the Hajar Mountains:
- Sharjah: Expected to reach daytime highs of 43°C to 44°C and lows of 29°C to 30°C. High humidity of up to 85% will bring overnight mist.
- Fujairah: Residents can expect partly cloudy skies and localised rainfall, with temperatures remaining relatively lower, peaking between 37°C and 39°C.
- Ras Al Khaimah: Temperatures are forecast to hit a high of 45°C during the day, dropping to a low of approximately 31°C at night, alongside dusty wind conditions.
- Ajman and Umm Al Quwain: Both coastal emirates will record maximum temperatures ranging between 41°C and 43°C, with overnight minimums of 30°C and humidity levels climbing to 80% near the coast.
