WAM

Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, an order has been issued to establish a fully equipped Emirati field hospital in the Gaza Strip. This hospital is dedicated to providing crucial medical assistance to the Palestinian population and is a significant component of the 'Gallant Knight 3' humanitarian operation.

On Monday, November 6, five planes took off from Abu Dhabi International Airport, carrying the essential equipment and supplies needed for the field hospital. These items will first be offloaded at Al-Arish Airport in Egypt before being transported to the Gaza Strip.

According to WAM, the field hospital will have a 150-bed capacity and will be established in multiple stages. It will encompass departments for general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, and gynaecology, in addition to anaesthesia and intensive care units catering to both children and adults.

The facility will include clinics for various medical specialities, including internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, and family medicine. In addition, it will provide supplementary services such as CT imaging, a laboratory, a pharmacy, and various other medical support functions.

This initiative demonstrates the UAE's longstanding commitment to supporting and standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, especially during the difficult circumstances they are currently encountering.

The UAE has previously declared assistance to the Palestinian people, including $20 million in urgent aid. They have also initiated a program to bring around 1,000 Palestinian children from Gaza, along with their families, for medical treatment in UAE hospitals. Furthermore, a community relief campaign for those impacted by the ongoing conflict in Palestine has been initiated in the UAE, operating under the banner 'Compassion for Gaza'.
