Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of targeted infrastructure upgrades along Latifa bint Hamdan Street, cutting peak-hour traffic congestion by up to 30%.
The traffic engineering works have expanded the service road’s operational capacity from 600 to 1,000 vehicles per hour, providing immediate relief to thousands of daily motorists navigating one of the emirate's primary east-west links.
The quick-response enhancements focus on two critical sections along the service road, spanning a combined length of 1,000 metres:
- First Section: An additional lane stretching from the intersection at Al Asayel Street through to Street 44.
- Second Section: A lane expansion running from the National Cement Factory towards the First Al Khail Street exit.
In addition to the roadway expansion, engineers constructed two new U-turn lanes beneath the junction of Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Asayel Street. The new U-turns have effectively shortened vehicle queue lengths and eliminated major intersection choke points during morning and evening rush hours.
Latifa bint Hamdan Street serves as a vital arterial link connecting key residential, commercial, and industrial districts, including Al Quoz and surrounding neighbourhoods. Because the corridor intersects directly with major highways such as Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street, the recent capacity boost directly benefits drivers moving between central Dubai, Dubai South, and Abu Dhabi.
