Thinking of tying the knot soon? In the UAE, the wedding process is about to get a whole lot easier. You'll soon have the option to apply for a marriage certificate and complete the contract remotely, with the added convenience of legally binding digital signatures from both parties.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) is showcasing a videoconferencing software for marriage services at GITEX Global 2023. With this innovative system, residents can electronically submit applications for a marriage contract, obtain necessary approvals, and seamlessly finalise payment procedures, all through online means.

Furthermore, scheduling an appointment to formalise the marriage contract can be managed through remote video-conferencing technology. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has pointed out that the receipt of the final marriage contract document will also be conducted electronically. Importantly, the digital signatures of both parties involved will hold legal validity.

To apply for the digital wedding, applicants are required to utilise the UAE Pass to access this digital service. The process begins by electronically submitting an application for the marriage contract. Following this, applicants need to await approval and finalise payment procedures through online channels.

Subsequently, they can secure an appointment slot for contract signing using WebEx, a web conferencing platform. Once all these steps are done, applicants can anticipate the receipt of the final marriage contract bearing the legally binding digital signatures of both parties.
