Burj Khalifa Lights Up In Honour Of The Late Kuwait Emir

Dubai’s Burj Khalifa paid tribute to the late Kuwait Emir His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, a day after his passing. 

The iconic landmark lit up in tribute to the 91-year-old Emir who passed away on Tuesday morning in New York. 

A black and white image of the late Emir was displayed on the tallest building in the world. 

Burj Khalifa posted a video of the moment on its official Twitter account with the following message: “We extend our deepest condolences to the nation of Kuwait and its people on the passing of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber. May his soul rest in peace.”

Kuwait swore in its new Emir His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday. 

UAE leaders congratulated Kuwait’s new Emir after he took the oath of office in Parliament at noon on Wednesday, according to state news agency WAM. 

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the Emir of Abu Dhabi, the Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces and the Chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council, has ordered funeral prayers to be performed for the late Emir in all mosques nationwide on Thursday after Asr prayer.
