Public and private sector employees in the UAE will receive an official paid holiday on Friday, 28 August 2026, to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

For workers who follow the standard Saturday to Sunday weekend, this holiday provides them with a three-day break. Normal office hours across federal entities and private companies will resume on Monday, 31 August.

The occasion itself, observed on the 12th day of Rabi’ Al Awwal in the Islamic calendar, is expected to fall on Tuesday, 25 August, pending final confirmation by the UAE Moon-Sighting Committee.

The upcoming holiday marks the final scheduled public long weekend in the UAE until the National Day celebrations (Eid Al Etihad) in December 2026.
