Ras Al Khor And Al Khail Roads RTA Upgraded Cutting Peak-Hour Commute Times

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of rapid traffic improvements along Ras Al Khor Road and Al Khail Road, aimed at easing severe bottlenecks along one of the city's primary travel corridors.

The infrastructure enhancements directly benefit daily commuters travelling between Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, and Meydan. According to the RTA, the modifications have expanded capacity on key stretches by up to 33%, cutting journey times during peak hours by roughly 20%.

On Ras Al Khor Road, a new lane heading towards Al Khail Road has been added, stretching from the Financial Centre Street intersection to southbound Al Khail Road. The exit from Financial Centre Street towards Meydan has been restructured, and the entry from Ras Al Khor Road to Financial Centre Street modified. These combined changes have reduced local travel times on that segment from 15 minutes to 12 minutes.

Further south along Al Khail Road, a one-kilometre lane expansion towards Abu Dhabi increased the total lane count from three to four. The added capacity aims to smooth traffic merging from adjacent residential and commercial zones, such as Business Bay and Meydan.
