Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a major three-lane bridge as part of the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project. The new bridge accommodates up to 3,600 vehicles per hour and is designed to ease traffic moving from Al Khail Road towards Al Asayel Street via Al Wasl Club Street.
The bridge opening reduces travel time through the corridor from 20 minutes down to 5 minutes, a 75% improvement.
According to His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, the wider development project increases Oud Metha Street’s overall capacity from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour in both directions.
The overall project has reached 90%. It covers four major intersection upgrades, 14 kilometres of road improvements, and two tunnels stretching 4.3 kilometres.
The upgraded corridor directly serves crucial residential, healthcare, and commercial zones including Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Metha, Umm Hurair, Latifa Hospital, and Al Wasl Club.
