Dubai Municipality has opened a new integrated pet shelter at the Birds and Pets Market in Warsan and launched an online adoption platform. The initiative aims to enhance veterinary services, streamline pet adoption, and provide structured care for stray and abandoned animals across Dubai.
The new shelter in Warsan includes a dedicated Customer Happiness Centre, interactive adoption rooms, a pre-adoption viewing zone, and a unit specifically allocated for reuniting lost pets with their owners.
On-site medical infrastructure features a fully equipped veterinary clinic, a surgical operating theatre, a rehabilitation centre, and a pet grooming unit. Rescued companion animals receive medical evaluations, treatment, and behavioural assessments before being listed for adoption.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafei, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, said: “The opening of the integrated pet shelter marks an important step in the continued development of Dubai Municipality’s public health and veterinary services. The facility enhances our ability to provide sustainable, efficient and proactive services that protect animal welfare and contribute to a higher quality of life across the emirate.”
Coinciding with the physical facility, the municipality launched a digital adoption portal, to enable prospective pet owners to view detailed medical and behavioural profiles of available animals, simplifying the application process.
