The One Billion Meals initiative aimed at providing meals to individuals in various countries that are underprivileged is now underway.
The campaign is an extension of the 100 million meals launched last year during the Holy Month of Ramadan, which exceeded targets and helped provide 220 million meals around the world.
To carry out the campaign, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives has expanded its network of partners which includes the UN World Food Programme, the Food Banking Regional Network, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the UAE Food Bank, the Dar Al Ber Society, the Dubai Charitable Society and local charitable, humanitarian and social organisations in several countries.
People looking to contribute can make donations via the One Billion Meals website, a bank transfer to the Emirates NBD account: AE300260001015333439802, through a monthly Dhs 1 subscription by sending 'meal' through an SMS to 1020 for du and 1110 for Etisalat or through the call centre for the campaign at 8009999.
