Dubai is a city that’s home to millions from around the world. A melting pot of cultures, the city attracts people from different walks of life to build meaningful lives. For decades, Dubai has been lauded for its stability, safety, and opportunity in a way few global cities can match.
Here are six key reasons why expats call Dubai home.
Great Leadership
The city’s leadership has built an environment where economic policies, governance, and forward-thinking urban planning consistently translate into real value for both residents and investors. Even during a crisis, like the ongoing geopolitical tensions, the UAE leaders affirmed that the UAE will remain a haven of safety and stability, and that it possesses the determination and capability to overcome challenges. For families, seeking long-term security is deeply reassuring.
Ahmad Sultan Al Shammari, Group Head of Sales Palladium Prime Real Estate Development, said, “Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate has built a system where security, institutional coordination, and infrastructure development continue uninterrupted even when external conditions shift. This consistency reassures both residents and international capital, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a preferred destination for long-term real estate investment.”
Multi-Cultural Community
Dubai is home to one of the world’s most diverse populations, bringing together more than 200 nationalities in a uniquely harmonious environment. This multicultural blend enriches every aspect of city life, be it the culinary scene, festivities, workplace, or schools. Residents enjoy a spirit of inclusivity where different cultures coexist, collaborate, and celebrate side by side. The emirate’s openness to global talent and traditions has created a welcoming atmosphere that encourages cross-cultural understanding, making Dubai not just a place to live and work, but a vibrant global community in itself.
“I’ve been living in Dubai for the past 8 years. When I moved from the UK, I was a bit sceptical if I’d be able to fit in. But, to my surprise, the move was so seamless, and I took to the city instantly. Today, I have friends from so many different nationalities, and we’re all more like a family. This city welcomes people from all over the world with open arms, and it embraces you in a way you just cannot imagine,” said Amy Bradders, a Marketing Executive in Dubai.
Tax Free
Dubai offers expats a highly attractive tax-free environment for personal income. Salaries, bonuses, rental income, dividends, pensions, and capital gains face zero personal income tax. This allows full retention of earnings for savings or investments.
Furthermore, there is no wealth tax, no capital gains taxes for individuals, no inheritance and gift taxes, no tax on property ownership, and no capital gains tax on cryptocurrencies.
However, a 5% VAT applies to most goods and services since 2018, and corporate tax is 9% on business profits over Dhs 375,000. The UAE offers a temporary tax exemption for small businesses. Companies with a revenue of under Dhs 3 million are exempted from corporate tax until 31 December 2026.
Real Estate
From the luxury homes in Downtown to sprawling villas in Arabian Ranches, Dubai’s property market has attracted investors from across the globe. Between 2 and 9 March 2026, Dubai recorded 3,570 sales transactions, with a total value of Dhs 11.93 billion, according to Dubai Land Department data. The value of transactions has risen over the last three days, despite the ongoing tensions.
Ahmad Sultan Al Shammari of Palladium Prime Real Estate Development said, “Dubai’s ability to maintain confidence during regional uncertainty is closely tied to its governance model. Strong leadership, long-term planning, and a clear regulatory framework have created one of the most stable and well-managed real estate environments globally. Under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the emirate has built a system where security, institutional coordination, and infrastructure development continue uninterrupted even when external conditions shift. This consistency reassures both residents and international capital, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a preferred destination for long-term real estate investment.”
Furthermore, Dubai’s real estate sector has repeatedly shown its ability to absorb shocks and continue growing. Experts predict the next phase of the market will reward developers who combine quality, efficiency, and technological intelligence.
“Resilience today is not only about where a building is located; it’s about how well it performs, how efficiently it operates, and how reliably it can be delivered. Our focus is to create homes that remain strong through uncertainty and continue generating value for residents and investors,” shared Ahmad Sultan of Palladium Prime Real Estate Development.
Strong governance, transparency, and long-term economic planning reinforce investor confidence even during regional uncertainty. “We are seeing buyers prioritise reliability, quality execution, and predictable delivery over sheer scale. Our mid-rise development model supports this shift: tighter construction oversight, shorter delivery cycles, and disciplined capital deployment. These factors ensure that projects remain on schedule and aligned with end-user demand, which is increasingly important as global conditions fluctuate,” added Ahmad Sultan of Palladium Prime Real Estate Development.
Safety And Quality Lifestyle
Dubai is consistently ranked among the safest cities in the world. Low crime rates, political stability, and clear regulations provide a stable environment for families and individuals. Furthermore, the city is also one of the cleanest in the world. Dubai has retained its position as the world’s cleanest city for the sixth consecutive year, according to results linked to the Global Power City Index. Dubai’s cleanliness system, overseen by Dubai Municipality, ensures clean streets and public parks, enhancing the quality of life for the public.
“There really is no other city like Dubai! I’ve travelled quite a bit, and the public parks and streets here are unlike any other city. Cleanliness aside, safety is one of the biggest perks for those living here. As a mother, I want to feel safe when my children are playing outside or when they’re in school, and Dubai gives me that assurance. This is something I am really proud of”, said Divya Mathur, a housewife living in Dubai.
Career Opportunities
The hub of invention and innovation, Dubai offers diverse job opportunities in sectors like finance, tech, healthcare, logistics, and tourism. Furthermore, the city is also a platform for budding entrepreneurs, offering ownership rights and easy processing.
“Owning my own business was a dream, and Dubai made that a reality. The city is always encouraging entrepreneurs and new ideas, and that’s what makes it attract young talent. That said, the process of setting up a business is not a hassle in Dubai. The processes are pretty straightforward and streamlined, making it easy for everyone,” said Adam Brut, a salon owner in Dubai.
Dubai stands out as a place where vision, innovation, and inclusivity converge to create a thriving global city. Its unwavering leadership, safe environment, and world-class infrastructure form the backbone of its enduring appeal. In a nutshell, it is not just a city to live in, it is a place to prosper, belong, and build a meaningful future.
