UAE Opens Second Field Hospital In Turkey

The UAE has opened a new field hospital in the Reyhanli district in Turkey, to provide medical treatment to individuals affected by the earthquakes.

The field hospital has now started treating patients and is the second one opened by the UAE, with the first located in Gaziantep, where the epicentre of the earthquake originated from.

The hospital has the capacity of 200 beds, 20 intensive care beds, two fully-equipped operation rooms, two ICU rooms, a laboratory and a pharmacy.

Brigadier Dr Sarhan Al Neyadi, Commander of the Medical Services Corps at the Ministry of Defence said, "This is the second hospital the UAE opened after the launch of the Emirates Relief Field hospital at the Islahiye district of Gaziantep on 13th February to provide basic emergency diagnostic and curative services to those affected by the earthquake in addition to social and psychological support services."

On 6 February, two earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey with a 7.8 and 7.6 magnitude on the Richter scale. 

The death toll in the two countries has currently crossed 46,000.
