Dubai Police Arrest 178 Beggars

Dubai Police

Dubai Police have announced that since March, 178 beggars have been arrested.

From 18 March to 1 April, 134 men and 44 women were taken into custody for begging.

The anti-begging campaign aims at stopping people from begging as it is a safety concern and can also lead to pickpocketing and theft.

Individuals struggling must go to relevant authorities to get the help required.

People found begging will be fined Dhs 5,000 and be put in prison for three months, with professional gangs of beggars or people recruiting people from outside the country to work as beggars, facing a jail term of six months and a minimum fine of Dhs 100,000.

Dubai Police urges people to report beggars via the Dubai Police App or on the number, 901.
