Dubai is set to host the 27th International Council of Museums (ICOM) General Conference in 2025, after winning the bid.

The announcement was made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The largest museum conference will be held under the theme 'The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities’.

The event will see the attendance of 119 countries, covering 20,000 international museums.

The vote will make Dubai the first city in the Middle East and North Africa to organise the conference since ICOM's establishment in 1946.
