Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will officially open a newly expanded 5km stretch of Emirates Road on Sunday, 30th August 2026. The infrastructure project introduces two additional lanes along the Sharjah-to-Dubai corridor, carrying traffic towards the Wadi Al Amardi Area.

By broadening the carriageway from six to eight lanes, the authority has boosted the road's total capacity from 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour. Traffic management studies indicate that the additional space will slash peak-hour travel times by up to 25% for commuters travelling into Dubai from the Northern Emirates.

Emirates Road serves as one of the country's most vital arterial highways, carrying more than 240,000 vehicles in both directions each day. It connects major residential districts, commercial centres, and industrial hubs across the UAE.
