Hijri New Year Holiday Announced

The UAE has officially confirmed Monday, 15 June 2026, as a public holiday for both the public and private sectors to mark the Islamic New Year, known as Hijri New Year.

The announcement made by the Federal Authoity for Governmnet Human Resources, gives residents a long weekend.

The occasion commemorates the Hijrah, the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) migration from Makkah to Madinah.

Work is expected to resume on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
