Eid Al Fitr: UAE Announces 10 April As First Day Of Eid

It's confirmed! The UAE's Moon-sighting Committee declared that Wednesday, 10 April, marks the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE, and Tuesday 9 April, is the last day of Ramadan.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice and Committee Chairman stated that despite trying all the methods and contacting neighbouring countries, the Shawwal month crescent was not sighted on Monday evening, 8 April. Hence, it was announced that 9 April will be the last day of Ramadan and 10 April will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

Work Resumes On 15 April For Private Sector Employees 

Following the announcement from the UAE moon sighting committee confirming the first day of Eid Al Fitr, private sector employees in the UAE are in for a 9-day leave as Ramadan extends for 30 days. The public holiday spans from Ramadan 29 (Monday, 8 April) until 3 Shawaal (Friday, 12 April). And with Saturday and Sunday, the work will resume on Monday, 15 April. 

This extended break allows private sector employees to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, and spend quality time with family and loved ones.
