Careem’s Ramadan Initiative Raises Dhs 6 Million

Careem's Ramadan Tip Matching initiative raised nearly Dhs 6 million for more than 31,000 captains across the UAE, turning a simple gesture of appreciation into a nationwide show of support during the Holy Month.

The campaign was created to make it easy for customers to support captains during Ramadan through small everyday actions. Using the Careem app, customers could add a tip at the end of each ride, and Hala matched it at no extra cost to the customer, doubling the tip received by the captain. 

According to Careem, the response from the community exceeded expectations, with more than 160,000 tips matched across its delivery, rides, and Hala taxi services. Some customers tipped more than Dhs 1,000 in total over the course of the initiative, helping drive the total amount raised to almost Dhs 6 million.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey of giving and for helping us ensure that those who serve our community are rewarded for their tireless service and resilience.”

Beyond the financial boost, Careem also continued its wider Ramadan support efforts for captains. This included the distribution of more than 10,000 iftar meals in collaboration with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and other entities.

The company also hosted a series of iftar gatherings for delivery captains, aimed at creating a sense of belonging and recognising their dedication and hard work throughout Ramadan.
