The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that over 1 million people have subscribed to the Unemployment Insurance Scheme.

Launched in January, the scheme aims to provide a form of financial security to employees from the public and private sectors if they lose their job.

Divided into two categories, the first covers individuals with basic salaries of Dhs 16,000 and below, where on paying Dhs 5 a month, a monthly compensation of Dhs 10,000 is applicable.

The second category is for individuals with a basic salary of over Dhs 16,000, where a monthly compensation of Dhs 20,000 is applicable, on paying Dhs 10 a month.

The scheme is applicable to individuals that have been subscribed for over a year and, on termination, will receive compensation for three months.

Employees can subscribe to the scheme via the ILOE website, ILOE app, bank apps, kiosk machines, business service centres, money exchanges, SMS or through telecommunication bills.
