Sheikh Mohammed Visits Centre Packing Aid

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Dubai World Trade Centre, where packing aid as part of the Bridges of Giving campaign, was being held.

The packing of aid was held on Monday, 13 March, from 9am to 6pm, and saw over 2,000 volunteers, from students in schools to employees, help in packing aid packages, to send to individuals in Syria and Turkey that have been affected by the earthquakes.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed was joined by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, and his grandchildren.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed was given a tour of the facility and was informed about the roles the volunteer teams were undertaking.

Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's grandchildren helped the volunteers in packing the aid, which included food, personal care items, clothing, blankets and children’s toys.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said, “Today, I visited the Bridges of Giving campaign launched to help Syria-Turkiye quake victims. The UAE is always keen to extend a helping hand to people in need, consolidating human fraternity and solidarity.”

On 6 February, Syria and Turkey were hit with two earthquakes, measuring a 7.8 and a 7.6 on the Richer scale, leading to a death toll of over 50,000, and many left injured and displaced.
