His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the progress of Phase I of the Hatta Development Projects and Initiatives.

With 14 projects and initiatives, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed visited the Hatta Souq, which combines modern and traditional elements and has seven shops, six indoor and seven outdoor kiosks, 42 sales platforms, a store, eight food carts, a children's playground, outdoor seating, green spaces and prayer rooms for men and women.

The Hatta Village, which will help accommodate 40 families as well as the first phase of the 11.5km cycling and biking track, offering an alternative mode of transport, was reviewed.

Over 13,000 native trees will also be planted in residential areas, by the cycling tracks and near the roads as part of Phase I.

Additionally, the plan for Phase II of Hatta Development Projects and Initiatives, which includes a total of 22 projects and initiatives, was approved.

Under Phase II, Hatta Beach will be transformed into an all-year-long tourist destination and the waterfront featuring a variety of recreational amenities, services and activities.

The Hatta Waterfalls will be constructed near the Hatta Dam, and a 5.4km cable car will be installed, taking visitors from the dam to the top of Umm Al Nusour, the highest peak in Dubai.

A mountain tramway will be constructed to improve accessibility to Hatta Dam.

Additional projects in Hatta include the restoration of Wadi Lim Lake by adding seasonal kiosks, food carts, facilities and walkways, and constructing 100 houses for nationals.
