Watch The Launch Of The Longest Arab Space Mission

The longest Arab Space Mission is set to launch on Monday, 27 February.

Crew-6, led by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, and includes astronaut Stephen Bowen, Spacecraft Commander at NASA, astronaut Warren Hoburg, Pilot at NASA, and cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, Mission Specialist at Roscosmos, is set to lift off at 10.45am UAE time.

The launch will take place from the Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The mission will be the longest Arab space mission in history and aims to train astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS).

Ahead of the mission, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, followed up on the mission with lead astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi saying, "May God protect you wherever you may be, and may you return to us safe and sound, dear and cherished, raising the flag of your country. We will be looking forward to your return, God willing."

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, added in a tweet, "Inspired by the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision, Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is set to embark on a 6-month mission to the International Space Station. We are proud of Sultan, MBRSC and everyone who aspires to achieve the best for the UAE."
